General Information

RIPENER is a foliar fertilizer designed to assist the ripening and coloring process on crops where phosphorous and molybdenum are deficient. Phosphate and molybdenum deficiencies in crops that use a lot of nitrogen may result in delayed or reduced ripening as well as poor color change. As soil pH drops, phosphate and molybdenum availability to crops will drop dramatically. Phosphate and molybdenum deficiencies are more harmful to crops that use more nitrogen or are sensitive to nitrate amounts in tissue. This would include crops such as Tomatoes, Potatoes, Sugar beets, Sugar cane, Corn, Cotton, Apples, Pears, Peaches, Peppers, Cherries, Brassica crops, Grapes, Soybeans, Wheat, Barley, Celery and other crops.

RIPENER is primarily used to enhance ripening and color while reducing sprouting of seed or nuts inside the boll or shell. RIPENER can also be used with defoliant to force open green cotton bolls. Whenever Ethrel is used in order to force ripening, RIPENER can be used in the Ethrel spray. One may be able to reduce the amount of ethylene- forming chemical that is used. RIPENER is intended as a supplement to a regular fertilization program and will not, by itself, provide all the nutrients normally required by agricultural crops. RIPENER has a low ph and will buffer spray tank water. The use of additional buffering agents may result in crop damage.

Limitations, Restrictions, and Exceptions

Fruit Trees: When the first color change is noted in the fruit.

Nut Trees: Anytime there is continuous rain during the ripening period.

Tomatoes and Peppers: Apply before harvest to increase color.

Grain Crops: Whenever rain persists during the ripening period to inhibit seed sprouting before harvest.
