CORN - PLANTER BOX APPLICATION

General Information

KICKSTART VITAVAX-Diazinon-Lindane Seed Treatment is a ready to use dust base product especially formulated for seed treatment at planting time. This product is formulated to help lubricate the planter box and assure a smooth, even flow to the furrow. It contains a systemic fungicide, VITAVAX, for protection of seeds from seed and seedling diseases; Diazinon for protection against seed corn beetles and seed corn maggots; and Lindane for protection against wireworms.

KICKSTART VITAVAX-Diazinon-Lindane Seed Treatment may be used on seed previously treated with Captan or Thiram. Do not use on seed previously treated with any insecticide other than stored grain protectant. Do not use on foundation seed stock.

Limitations, Restrictions, and Exceptions

CORN

PLANTER BOX APPLICATION: Use KICKSTART VITAVAX-Diazinon-Lindane Seed Treatment at the rate of 1.5 ounces (one pouch) per 42 pounds of seed (2 oz./bu). Apply as a drill box treatment mixing thoroughly with the seed before planting. For best results, the following procedure is suggested. Fill the drill box only half full of seed; add half the required amount of product and mix thoroughly with a stick. Then add the remainder of seed to the drill box and add the rest of the required amount of product to the seed, again mixing thoroughly. DO NOT MIX WITH BARE HANDS. Use only at the recommended rate. Lower amounts may not give desired control. Excessive amounts may cause seed injury.

Good results are also obtained by premixing seed with the product in a suitable container, then pouring treated seed into the planter box.

Note: Do not use on foundation seed stock. Do not use on seed already treated with an insecticide other than stored grain protectant. Regularly inspect planter plates and clean as required. If the seed treatment increases the friction between seeds sufficient to reduce the rate of delivery through a grain drill, 1 ounce of graphite per bushel of seed should be added as a drill lubricant. Adjust the seed drill to give the required rate of seed delivery with the treated seed. Check planter periodically to verify the proper planting rate is being delivered.

Clean-up for Electric Eye Population Monitors: At the end of each day of use, clean out the electric-eye monitors with brushes provided by the planter manufacturers, according to their directions.

USE RESTRICTIONS

Treated seed must not be used for or mixed with food or animal feed, or processed for oil. Care must be exercised in the handling of treated seed. Treat only those seeds needed for immediate use, minimizing the interval between treatment and planting. Do not store excess seeds beyond planting time.

Restricted Entry Interval

12 hours

Exception: If the product is soil-injected or soil-incorporated, the Worker Protection Standard, under certain circumstances, allows workers to enter the treated area if there will be no contact with anything that has been treated.
