General Information


Ecto-GEL Root Dip Inoculum contains beneficial ectomycorrhizal fungi, ammonium carboxylates (Asset RS) and water absorbing gel which expands root density, effectiveness, drought resistance and plant productivity. Ecto-GEL Root Dip Inoculum contains specifically selected ectomycorrhizal species for use with conifer, oak, and nut trees that increase survival and growth while reducing transplant shock and drought stress. Ecto-GEL Root Dip Inoculum is a dry powder that is mixed with water to form a slurry. Simply dip roots of bare root stock and plant normally.

Limitations, Restrictions, and Exceptions


Empty the contents of this package into four gallons of water. Let stand for 5 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. The product will form a slurry or thick mixture to allow the active ingredients to adhere to the roots. Dip each plant for about 5 seconds prior to planting. Continue to stir occasionally to insure the inoculum remains evenly suspended.

Four gallons of mix will treat 50 – 2000 plants. The number of plants will depend upon the size and nature of the root mass. Ecto-GEL Root Dip Inoculum has a shelf life of 2 years as a dry powder. The product, once mixed with water, should be used within 72 hours.

Ecto-GEL Root Dip Inoculum promotes the development of a strong root system and aids in the establishment of new bare root plantings. Ecto-GEL Root Dip Inoculum is designed for alder, arborvitae, aspen, basswood, beech, birch, chestnut, chinquapin, fir, hazelnut, hemlock, hickory, kinickinick, larch, linden, madrone, oak, pecan, pine, poplar, spruce, and walnut.

Statement of Claims: Helena Chemical Company certifies that this product contains five species of ectomycorrhizal fungi: Pisolithus tinctorius at a minimum rate of 2,500,000 propagules per cubic centimeter and four species of centimeter. The Mycorrhizal Rhizopogon at a minimum combined rate of 625,000 propagules per cubic symbiosis is sensitive to environmental conditions and Helena Chemical Company is unable to make any guarantees beyond the above statement.
