TREES AND SHRUBS - AUGER-CORE DRILLING

General Information

PHC Vertimulch is a combination inoculant containing mycorrhizal fungi (both Ecto- and VAM) and beneficial rhizosphere bacteria in a matrix of organic soil amendments and includes Terra-Sorb hydrogels for improved water management. It is formulated for application using standard earth auger equipment, and is used in vertical mulching and root zone treatment of trees and shrubs. PHC Vertimulch is a great treatment for trees suffering from environmental stress or those that are in decline. Vertimulch contains Myconate which stimulates native and inoculated VAM fungal growth and colonization of roots.

PHC Vertimulch contains mycorrhizal fungi that can:

- Improve absorption of water and minerals from the soil

- Help plants mitigate adverse environmental stressors such as drought, salinity, and extremes of soil pH

PHC Vertimulch also introduces beneficial rhizosphere bacteria that improve soil fertility by:

- Fixing atmospheric nitrogen

- Converting insoluble mineral phosphorus to soluble phosphates

TREES AND SHRUBS - AUGER-CORE DRILLING

For best results inoculate within and just beyond (3 to 5 feet) drip line on 2.5 foot centers. Follow standard vertimulching procedures. Drill product into the soil at a rate of 3 ounces per hole, so that product is thoroughly mixed with the soil in the hole. Use an earth auger or similar drill with a 2.5 inch wide auger bit. Drill to a depth of about 8 to 10 inches. Drill numerous such holes to cover the entire area beneath the canopy, from the trunk outward to slightly beyond the drip line following a grid pattern with approximately 2.5 foot spacing between holes.
