Three-cornered alfalfa hopper nymph
- Adult: Tiny, green, wedge-shaped bug.
- Nymphs: Similar to adult in shape but pale yellow and heavily spined.
- Eggs: White, oblong to oval and slightly larger at one end.
Timing of damage: All season
Type of damage: Weak, broken or damaged stems.
Scouting: Do a visual examination of seedlings. For older plants, do a net sweep.
Economic threshold: When 10% of plants less than 12" tall are infested; when 50% of seedlings
are girdled; or there is one hopper per net sweep for plants setting pods.
