Pathogen involved: Cochliobolus heterostrophus (a fungus)

Timing/Conditions: Occurs during warm humid weather from mid-whorl stage to maturity.

Contributing factors: Monoculture and reduced tillage increase risk.

Management practices: Use resistant hybrids crop rotation and tillage.
